Collection 07 The Sculpture Fund

The Sculpture Fund is a research collection created by 221A Research Fellow Amy Nugent. Over the past five years, Amy Nugent’s research has focused on the history and restitution of artists sculptors Frances Loring (1887-1968) and Florence Wyle (1881-1968), the current state of Canadian art collections, and the limited acquisition funds to support them. The Sculpture Fund collection at Pollyanna 圖書館 Library activates Frances and Florence memoirs and archives.

The Sculpture Fund is a research collection created by 221A Research Fellow Amy Nugent. Over the past five years, Amy’s research has focused on the history and restitution of sculptors Frances Loring (1887-1968) and Florence Wyle (1881-1968), the current state of Canadian art collections, and the limited acquisition funds to support them. The Sculpture Fund collection at Pollyanna 圖書館 Library activates Frances and Florence’s memoirs and archives, as well as housing books on the history of sculpture and art societies in Canada, catalogs on women and non-binary sculptors, acquisitions, the art market, and cultural funding.

As foundational contributors to Canadian art, their life, work, and last wills and testaments has been unfairly eluded in national art history. As a way to fulfill their final wishes, Nugent’s research will develop The Sculpture Fund, the main clause in the artists’ wills, which called for the creation of a fund that would give galleries and museums the capacity to commission and purchase sculpture.
