December 2022 - ongoing

Created and hosted by 221A Fellow Syrus Marcus Ware, No Future, No Cry is an original podcast series featuring new speculative fictions by leading artists, activists and thinkers. All set within a century from now, these stories dream us into future worlds while reckoning with the one(s) we have collectively inherited.

Syrus Marcus Ware is a Vanier Scholar, visual artist, activist, curator, and educator. Using painting, drawing, textiles, installation, video and performance, Syrus works with and explores social justice frameworks and Black activist culture. As an avid reader and watcher of speculative fiction, Syrus has also created works including Ancestors, Can You Read Us? (Dispatches From The Future) and Antarctica.

For his 221A Fellowship, Syrus assembles a roster of artists, writers, activists and scholars to create a new speculative fiction podcast series called No Future, No Cry. Produced with Visitor Media, No Future, No Cry engages with all that has been and all that could be, offering us a way of surviving and growing into myriad futures – the apocalyptic, the beautiful, the hopeful, the sacred.
