You are invited to Artist’s Tea with Lauren Crazybull as part of Reception, a presentation concluding her 221A Fellowship.

At the core of Lauren’s portrait work is the relationships she builds with her sitters. “When I started my practice, [portraiture] was a way for me to get to know other Indigenous people in the communities that I was a part of,” Lauren comments in her recent interview with 221A. “Removing [the] hierarchical parts of portrait painting was important for me. I end up painting who’s around me and who I spend time with, like my family and friends and just people I meet.”

Join Lauren and those who made her portraits possible for an afternoon of tea and conversation, as you spend time with her work from the past 18 months.

Tea and light refreshments will be offered.

Reception will be available for viewing until May 15.

Accessibility information for the venue is available below. If you require accommodations, please fill out our Event Accessibility Form below.
