Shafira Rezkita Vidyamaharani is an artist, writer, designer, and researcher based on the unceded Indigenous territories belonging to the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples. Currently a Master of Arts Candidate at Simon Fraser University (SFU)’s School of Communication, they work as a research assistant for SSHRC-funded collaboration project with the University of Southampton, Creating Data Publics, and a teaching assistant for a range of undergraduate courses teaching multimodal communication including Visual Culture and Data Visualization (CMNS 313), Creativity and Communication Across Media (CMNS 120W), Black TV Studies (CMNS 316), and Professional and Strategic Communication (CMNS 200). Shafira also works at Bass Coast Music & Art Festival as Graphic Designer and Video Editor, in addition to their independent design practice working with community-based cultural producers such as New Forms Festival since 2024, and artist-run centres including as Artspeak, Britannia Art Gallery, Gallery Gachet, and UNIT/PITT for their 50th Anniversary Exhibition and Publication.
