With a powerful opening by Snichim Singer, Swo-wo, and MC-ed by Comedian, Savannah Erasmus, the Fellows were announced to over 100 guests. In addition to a $72,000 stipend over an 18 month period, artists will receive a $10,000 budget to activate online and in-person cultural outputs, including talks, exhibitions, workshops, film screenings, podcasts, and digital prints.
Known as one of the most generous studio placements in Canada, Anastasia French, Manager of Living Wage for Families BC and April Britski, Executive Director of CARFAC, joined the stage to speak about how a dignified wage can make a tremendous difference in the career and lives of artists and cultural workers.

These artists were selected from 90 nominations by a 100% BIPOC selection committee composed of 221A Board Members, former Fellows, Host Nations representation and other dominant cultural actors including: Camille Georgeson-Usher, Scholar, Writer & Curator; Jordan Wilson, Curator; Kathy Feng, Artist & 221A Board Member; Raymond Boisjoly, Artist; and Brian McBay, Executive Director of 221A.
