“I was very honoured and grateful to have been invited to be a part of the youth team that helped build the earth up for this garden with auntie Cease. I had heard Cease share plant knowledge and wisdom on her territory and although I’ve always struggled to grasp plant teachings, I was so excited to be a part of an Indigenous garden for the first time. Every time I’ve came to help or just visited, these plants know how to bring the poetry out of me. I’ll be learning from them for the rest of my life and they will always have a place in my heart as the first garden that helped me learn about native plants at my own pace. This garden has been patient with me and I’m excited to be witness to what comes next for this project.”

Community Pollinator Oliver Barnes researched and designed a reflexology path as an addition to the garden’s infrastructure. Upon its completion, the inspiration and processes behind the path were documented through Oliver Barnes’ interview with artist Erik Benjamins.

“As for the experience of being on a reflexology path, I view it as a kind of slower course for encountering a space. You take your time, feeling your body in connection with public space.”
