Before claiming her identity as an artist, Sai Di worked in the technology sector for fifteen years. Finding a synthesis between technological modalities and art—with drawing, sound and scores and apparatus building as primary methods—Sai pursues artistic expression that transcends the dualism of “high” and “low” tech.

Vancouver, January 31, 2024 — The call for nominations is now open for the 221A Fellowship, offering three 18-month non-residential studio placement awards to support artistic creation with a trifecta of essentials: time, space, and money.
Each artist will receive a $72,000 stipend to develop online and in-person cultural outputs, such as talks, exhibitions, workshops, film screenings, podcasts, and digital works. The studios will offer cross-pollination between Fellows, hosted at a new facility at 825 Pacific Street.

Commissioned by collaborative graphic design studio, House9, 221A’s refreshed logo brings new life into the organization’s identity through a mono-linear sans-serif and balanced stroke weight.
“We wanted to ensure 221A’s identity remained instantly recognizable and that the organization’s long history carried through,” says Farah Khan, Principal and Creative Director of House9. “In replacing the typeface with Roobert, we were able to add a layer of friendliness.”
