Maya McKibbin is a Two-Spirited multidisciplinary illustrator and comic artist living on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and səlilwətaɬ Nations. They are Irish-settler, Ojibwe with roots in White Earth Nation and diaspora from Zacatecas in Mexico. They grew up in ch’atlich and later in England. Their work explores the themes of queerness, indigenous identity and magical realism. Maya Art Directed INKWO: For When The Starving Return which was released last year and celebrated at Sundance Film Festival having received many awards. Some of their published children’s literature includes Little Shoes by award winning writer David Robertson and If You Were Here by Kathy Stinson. Their independent zines have been celebrated in publications by Conundrum Press and Gytha Press.
