Cristian Hernandez-Blick is a Vancouver-based researcher, writer, and visual artist. He holds a BFA in Critical and Cultural Practices from Emily Carr University of Art + Design and is currently completing an MA in Science and Technology Studies at the University of British Columbia. His graduate research explores the history and philosophy of teleology and its relevance to the understanding of life and machines in biology and cybernetics. He currently works as a seminar leader at Emily Carr University and as the Head of Program at Interspecies Internet, an organization working to promote and advance the study of animal communication, cognition, and welfare. His earlier creative practice included drawing, print media, publication design, front-end web development, and co-founding the independent experimental comics press DDOOGG.
