Carmut Me 米家宓, our Head of Cultural Space Programs, is an urban planner specializing in cultural planning and infrastructure. At 221A, she drives the strategic integration of physical space planning, policy development, and program delivery of major cultural space initiatives. Carmut brings broad expertise across projects, regularly leading initiatives in early-stage research, space design, policy formulation, or tenant alignment. Drawing on her multi-disciplinary background, she collaborates with government partners, consultants, and community groups to advance functional, community-centered spaces. Prior to 221A, Carmut was a Cultural Planner with the City of Vancouver’s Cultural Spaces Team. She served on the boards of nonprofits BCA and the Heritage Vancouver Society, and civic advisory Chinatown Legacy Stewardship Group (2019–2021). Carmut holds a dual Master’s degree in Planning and Asia Pacific Policy Studies from the University of British Columbia.
