Throughout the winter , 221A presents a season of public talks, performances, and workshops in collaboration with the Vancouver Art Gallery and Emily Carr University of Art + Design, on the occasion of Vancouver Special: Ambivalent Pleasures. With this program, 221A hopes to offer a space and time oblique to the terrain of the civic museum for the exhibition’s 40 artists to traverse alternative lines of thought and forms of engagement.
For the duration of the season, the organization’s headquarters at 221 E Georgia is a production space and presentation platform for program participants, resident artists and visitors to develop, present and perform. A central support to this activity will be a public reading room and library collection presenting books, texts, and ephemera selected by contributors to the exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery, its catalogue and the resulting program. 221A invites you to visit and spend time with this material during its open hours.
