Domestic Labour and Temporary Foreign Workers

Domestic Labour and Temporary Foreign Workers

Join us at Pollyanna 圖書館 Library on Tuesday, June 26, for the second of four sessions in the Bread and Roses Study Group, Domestic Labour and Temporary Foreign Workers.

In the third session of the Bread and Roses Study Group, we will be joined by Yeng Camaclang, labour organizer of Migrante BC, a grassroots organization dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights and welfare of Filipino migrants and immigrants in BC. The main topic of conversation will be Yeng’s involvement in organizing temporary foreign workers, in particular, domestic workers. As part of the session, we will watch I will not ask anything about you, you will not ask anything about me, a video produced by the Domestic Workers Netherlands (Cleaners Union/FNV Bondgenoten) in collaboration with Matthijs de Bruijne.

For access to study materials please email collections@polly-anna.ca.

Hosted by 221A Collections Librarian Hannah Dempsey, the Bread and Roses Study Group will read documents of revolutionary women’s organizing with histories of the labour movement in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

Between June and July 2018, 221A will host two study groups: Bread and Rose and Autonomous Education. For access to the full calendar of events, visit polly-anna.ca/activities.
