Fabiola Carranza

Fabiola Carranza was born and raised in Costa Rica. She received a Bachelor in Media Arts degree from Emily Carr University in 2006 and is currently cursing her Masters of Fine Arts at the University of British Columbia. Carranza’s approach to making art focuses on issues that arise from the historical and cultural specificities of her source material. Her work seeks unusual forms of expression as an entry point to the consideration of more complex cultural phenomena. Recent solo exhibitions include, Apocalypse at Solentiname (Hardscrabble Gallery, Vancouver, 2012), Pale. Pale. Pale. Pale. Pale. Pale. Pale (The Crying Room, Vancouver, 2011) and El Hábito de Estrofas (Des Pacio, San José, CR, 2011). Carranza has participated in group exhibitions at Tentwoten (Berlin) and at Artspeak Gallery and Access Gallery (Vancouver).
