221A Grows, Welcoming Four New Team Members

March 26, 2024

221A is thrilled to announce the hiring of new team members: multi-disciplinary artist, Alia Hijaab, as Membership & Events Coordinator; interdisciplinary artist Dana Qaddah, as Sector Equity in the Arts Network Community (SEARA) Program Coordinator; writer and facilitator, Romila, as Head of Communications; as well as writer and artist, Tania De Rozario, as Advancement Coordinator.

Alia’s arrival is catalytic to the activation of new public program activities and membership services, including coworking and bookable spaces at 221A. She is also pursuing a Masters in Library and Archival studies at the University of British Columbia

As an organizer of Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese descent, Dana's practice is contextualized by themes building from, and through, colonial legacies, environmental and economic deterioration, and the condition of abstraction from one’s own sense of self and place. They will bring these interests to 221a’s table, and lead the development of equitable substructures which enable underserved communities to thrive in the Art world.

With over a decade of strategic communications experience, Romila leads organizations like 221A into producing thought-provoking and meaningful content. Informed by emergent strategies, queer non-linearity and kejawen ways of being, Romila translates organizational values and strategic priorities into human-centered storytelling.

Tania draws from a decade of grant-writing in Singapore. Projects she has helped fund include exhibitions, readings, screenings and performances. Tania is proud to be working at 221A and hopes to help contribute to its vision of a society in which all people have the means to access and make culture.

Please join us in welcoming 221A’s new team members!
