221A welcomes Tessa Tomlinson & Courtenay Mayes

October 31, 2018

221A is pleased to welcome Tessa Tomlinson as its Librarian, Collections and Courtenay Mayes as its Coordinator, Operations.

Tomlinson is a recent graduate of the Library and Information Sciences Masters program at the University of British Columbia. Tomlinson takes on the role of managing and activating 221A's growing Pollyanna 圖書館 Library Collection. Her role builds on the work of Hannah Dempsey, who departed in late summer to attend graduate school in library sciences and was the organization's inaugural Collections Librarian.

Courtenay Mayes joins 221A as the Coordinator, Operations.

Mayes is an artist and designer and graduate of Concordia University who has worked in a variety of roles in service to artists: Founder/Director of The Paper Apartment Gallery in Montreal, Co-Director of Gallery VAV, and most recently as the Director of the Hornby Arts Council. She also has experience in the management of multi-family dwellings and commercial tenancies in the City of Vancouver and has been involved in volunteer work through artist-run centres in Montreal and more recently with the Coast Protectors (2018, Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs). Her appointment in the role of Coordinator, Operations, will support the Society's Board of Directors and Committees and will drive 221A's larger scale initiatives.
