221A Welcomes Tao Fei as Program Producer

221A is pleased to announce the hiring of Tao Fei who takes on the part-time role of Program Producer as of April 2020. As a member of 221A’s programming team, the Program Producer is responsible for planning, implementing and facilitating the smooth delivery of all logistics related to research, education and public art programs, as well as communications and advancement activities. Working alongside the Head of Strategy and Education & Learning Programmer, Fei will provide program management for Fellows, Keyholders, Research Initiatives, partners, and education activities.

Tao Fei is a cultural worker and writer with a background in interdisciplinary performance-based practice. She was previously Executive Producer of the POP Montreal International Music Festival, where she oversaw the expansion and integration of visual art, film, and public symposia programs alongside the festival’s core music programming, and produced annual site-based commissions and artist-led youth projects. She has written about art (Momus, Canadian Art) and dance (The Village Voice, Rover Arts) and was in residence at the Banff Centre in 2018 as part of the Critical Art Writing Ensemble III. She holds a BA in Comparative Literature from Barnard College, New York and currently chairs the Board of Directors of Cinéma Moderne, Montreal. Born in Hong Kong, Tao is a sixth-generation Chinese-Canadian with maternal family ties to Vancouver’s Chinatown. She moved back to Vancouver last year, after 20+ years away.
