Xiaoshi Vivian Vivian Qin is an artist born and raised in Guangzhou. Originally studying law in China, she went on to pursue a BA in communications theory and studio art at Denison University. She received an MFA from Columbia University in 2015. She currently resides in New York, where she uses video, installation, and performance to create works that engage with collective understandings of the future. Recent exhibitions and screenings of her work include: Strobe Network, Flux Factory, Queens (2015); IN RESPONSE: Other Primary Structures, The Jewish Museum, New York (2014); HB Station, Times Museum, Guangzhou (2014). She received the Lotos Foundation Prize in 2015 and the Gold Prize at the Guangzhou Folk Art Festival in 2007. She writes about art and technology for Modern Weekly Magazine.
