Andrea Francke was born in Lima, Peru in 1978. She did a BA and a MPhil in Fine Arts at the UNICAMP in Brazil. She moved to London in 2007 to attend a Post-graduate Diploma and a MA in Fine Arts courses at the Chelsea College of Arts and Design. She was shortlisted for the GAM award and received the Red Mansion Prize in 2011. She is part of the Making Do collective, Making Do has published 4 magazines so far, all having the exploration of an specific methodology as an starting point. She is currently developing The Piracy Project along AND Publishing, an exploration of the philosophical, legal and practical implications of book piracy and also a political stand against the closure of the Byam Shaw Library by the University of the Arts London.
