Aleksandra Domanović was born in SFR Yugoslavia and currently resides in Berlin. Her work is concerned with how images and information are transformed as they circulate and traverse historical contexts and national boundaries. Her most recent projects extend this research into an inquiry on her birth country, mapping how transnational image culture and information flows have formed the desocialized environment of former Yugoslavia. In 2006, she co-founded the influential contemporary art blog VVORK. Recent solo and group exhibitions include: Aleksandra Domanović: Mother of this Domain, Plug In ICA, Winnipeg (2015); Them, Schinkel Pavillon, Berlin (2015); Triennial: Surround Audience, New Museum, New York (2015); The Future of Memory, Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna (2015); Glasgow International 2014, Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow (2014); Shanghai Biennale, Shanghai; Speculations on Anonymous Materials, Fridericianum, Kassel (2013); From yu to me, Kunsthalle Basel, Basel (2012). Domanović was awarded the 2014/15 ars viva prize.
