K̓esugwilakw | Sierra Tasi Baker

K̓esugwilakw, MSc, B.EnvD (the/she/he) is an Indigiqueer Urban and Environmental designer from the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw and is also Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw/Musga̱mgw Dzawada̱’enuxw, Łingít and Magyar/Hungarian. Trained in Environmental Design (architecture, landscape architecture, and environmental design) and Sustainable Urbanism (sustainable urban planning and policy) at some of the top universities in the world for the built environment, they have a broad understanding of the spatial design fields supplemented by the mentorship of their father, Master Carver Wade Baker, in Public Art. K̓esugwilakw is now the Principal at their family design company Sky Spirit Studio Inc. focusing on developing uniquely Coast Salish design and research methodologies that support Indigenous Sovereignty and Land Back in the built environment. One of the Co-Directors at BIDC (the Black + Indigenous Design Collective), K̓esugwilakw is passionate about spatializing Black + Indigenous solidarity through education, design, and capacity building.
