221A Artist Run Centre presents Pact 4 in conjunction with the World Tea Party and Bright Light at Centre A (Vancouver Centre for Contemporary Asian Art). During the Pact participants will have access to use two large (6000 lumens) projected images on the front windows of Centre A.

How it works:
1. Theme announced.
2. Work, interviews, reviews, resources, readings is/are produced/prepared/recorded/written/collected/selected by you and us.
3. Work submitted/installed/prepared one day prior from 2:00pm – 8:00pm.
4. Food & drink cooked/prepared/purchased potluck format.
5. Event held with all of above at 8:00pm – 11:00pm.
6. Work de-installed/cleaned/removed by 11:30pm.
7. Pact collateral collected and assembled into web publication. See archives.

Rules of the Potluck
1. Food – Bring food and eat food!
2. Labels – Allergens alerts & vegetarian/vegan labels provided.
3. Cutlery – We have re-useable plates/cups if you forget yours.
4. Finger Food – Make sure all food can be handled with fingers.
5. Beverages – Bring drinkables. Beer & wine will be sold for $4.
6. Leftovers – We will give away what is left.
History
The Pact was the founding reason for 221A Artist Run Centre (then – NOART Vancouver Artist Collective). It served as the backbone to the organization, holding 12 Pacts from 2005-2007. Held in room 260 at the Emily Carr Institute, the event awkwardly mixed facilitation with production and participation, creating our first group of dedicated members. Only in 2009, after the development of a permanent facility, has the Pact been reconsidered as a major activity. The premise of the old Pact is fundamentally similar to the new one, but with over two years seperating them we felt that it was appropriate to reset the number from Pact 12 to Pact 1. Although the collective that originated this activity does not exist anymore, we’ve maintained the existing website at http://noart.ca that documents the old 12.
